The challenge

Coming Home is an exciting country-wide initiative that sees the National Portrait Gallery sending 50 portraits of British icons from the national Collection to home towns and cities across the UK. An identity and toolkit was required to help participating venues to promote the programme and attract interest and visitors within their local area and beyond.

The solution

Inspired by the theme of journeys and exploration we quite literally turned a simple frame device into a symbol of travel. The compass inspired logo, supported by a modern British colour palette, created an identity which communicated the idea that our national Collection was travelling beyond the Gallery and ‘heading out’ across the four corners of the UK.
