The challenge
From makerspaces and studios, to fablabs and coworking spaces, creative communities and collectives, have become a fast growing ecosystem across the globe, with over 1.2 million people using coworking spaces alone. Nesta, British Council and Hivos, wanted to collectively develop a learning programme and resources that respond to the unique needs and challenges that hub leaders face, and needed a name and identity to bring the global programme to life.

The solution
Inspired by the programme’s collective learning ethos, our concept was based around the idea of ‘greater than the sum of its parts’. We created a global, icon based ‘kit of parts’ identity designed with creativity and flexibility in mind. The multi-lingual identity was in-built with the potential to adapt for different cities and countries across the world, flexing for different geographies and cultures at a national and local level.
